Leupold TMOA

Drawn to scale from Leupold’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Leupold TMOA — second focal plane, MOA subtensions

Framed to about 40 MOA — the part of the reticle you aim with. This reticle carries marks out to 60 MOA; the rest sits beyond the edge of this drawing.

Drawn from Leupold & Stevens, Inc.’s published specification.

Subtensions

Leupold TMOA spec sheet (TMOA_reticle_172054.pdf), linked from the leupold.com product pages for VX-5HD 4-20x52 TMOA, VX-5HD Gen 2 4-20x52 TMOA and VX-5HD 7-35x56 TMOA. Sheet text: measures correctly at the riflescope's highest available magnification. Published: 0.1 MOA fine lines, 0.5 MOA heavy lines, 1.0 MOA mark spacing, 0.5 MOA short marks, 1.0 MOA long marks, 5.0 MOA between long marks, 0.2 MOA centre gap. Drawn: an open 0.2 MOA centre (both fine lines stop 0.1 short of centre), a mark at every whole MOA from 1 to 10 on all four arms (long at 5 and 10), heavy posts from 10 MOA to the field edge on all four arms, and long marks continuing ON the posts at 15 and 20 (they stand 0.25 proud of the 0.5 post either side). No numerals, no dot. The sheet title also names VX-3i LRP; that discontinued line came in more than one focal plane and is not listed here. Posts are drawn to 60 MOA, a display convention.

How this one was checked

Verified 9 Oct 2026 against TMOA_reticle_172054.pdf page 1, read from the VECTOR artwork with pymupdf (tools/build_leupold_wave2.py). Scale 3.4321 pt/MOA, fitted by least squares to all 48 marks of the full-reticle view; every mark lands within 0.005 MOA of a whole MOA. At that scale every callout lands on a drawn feature: short 0.495 vs 0.5; long 1.004 vs 1.0; fine 0.091 vs 0.1; heavy 0.513 vs 0.5; gap 0.209 vs 0.2. Checklist walked: mark pitch 1 MOA on all four arms, long every 5, marks centred on their line (not one-sided); no numerals; open centre (gap on both lines); post tips square, all four at 10 MOA; extents - marks to 20 on every arm, posts to the field ring; all seven callouts mapped (0.1 fine, 0.5 heavy, 0.5 / 1.0 marks, 1.0 pitch, 5.0 long pitch, 0.2 gap).
