In the first focal plane the subtensions hold true at every magnification, so a hold is a hold wherever the zoom ring sits.

Subtensions

Official 2021 Leupold reticle manual page 17 (FFP PR1-MIL, Mark 5HD, non-illuminated). Published on the page: 0.05MIL centre dot, 0.04MIL fine lines, 0.15MIL medium lines, 0.25MIL heavy lines, and 0.20 / 0.40 / 0.50 / 0.80 / 1.00 / 1.50 / 2.50 MIL marks. || Rebuilt 9 Sep 2026 from the PDF's vector coordinates. What the earlier record had wrong: it drew one tick ladder and used it on every arm. The sheet draws two. Above centre and on both windage arms the 0.2 mil marks are 0.200 long and the whole mils 0.400; below centre they are 0.400 and 0.600, half again as long, and the 0.2 mil pitch runs twice as far (to 9.8 rather than 4.8). The outer pattern differs too: windage and up step to 2.5 mil immediately after 10, while down carries whole-mil marks at 11, 12, 13 and 14 first, and its 15-to-30 marks are 1.5 long against 1.0 everywhere else. The record also had a single 0.04 stadium out to the posts; the sheet steps 0.04 to 0.15 at 5 mil and 0.15 to 0.25 at 10 on the windage and above centre, but at 10 and 15 below centre - the step points are visible as the gap in each mark widening from 0.04 to 0.15 to 0.25. Numerals were present on one arm only; the sheet prints 5/10/15/20/25/30 on all four.

How this one was checked

Verified 9 Sep 2026 against page 17 of Leupold's 2021 reticle manual (FFP PR1-MIL, MARK 5HD) by reading the PDF's VECTOR strokes with pymupdf. All three drawings on the page were measured and cross-checked: the tall elevation detail at 11.744 pt/mil about (443.52, 550.65) - scale from its 1 mil windage mark pitch and confirmed by the 2.5 mil outer tick pitch - the magnified windage detail at the foot of the page at 13.78 pt/mil about (142.54, 228.0), and the reduced FULL RETICLE view at 3.106 pt/mil about (200.89, 517.3), which is the only one that shows the whole reach. Every mark is a filled rectangle rather than a stroke, so the geometry was reconstructed by pairing each mark's two long edges; lengths quoted are therefore the mark's true total, not a stroke run. Checked line by line. Centre: a 0.050 x 0.050 dot with all four stadia stopping 0.2 short of it. Windage: marks every 0.2 mil from 0.4 to 4.8, 0.200 long, with the whole mils 0.400; 0.500 at 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9; 1.000 at 10 and at every 2.5 mil step from 12.5 to 30 - identical on both sides and identical to the elevation ABOVE centre. Elevation BELOW centre is NOT the same reticle: its 0.2 mil marks are 0.400 long and its whole mils 0.600, it keeps the 0.2 mil pitch to 9.8, then marks every whole mil at 1.000 from 10 to 14, then every 2.5 mil at 1.500 from 15 to 30. Line weights come out of the mark gaps, which widen exactly where the stadium changes weight: 0.04 fine, 0.15 medium, 0.25 heavy, with the steps at 5 and 10 on the windage and above centre, and at 10 and 15 below centre. The heavy line runs on to the sheet's field-of-view boundary at 43.6 mil at the same 0.25 - there is no separate thicker post. Numerals 5/10/15/20/25/30 on all four arms, below the windage axis and left of the elevation axis. No hold grid, no circles, nothing on the bars. The two faint discs on the page are the 18x and 25x field-of-view rings.
