Leupold Impact-29 MOA — second focal plane, MOA subtensions
Leupold 2021 Reticles catalogue, page 38: IMPACT-29 MOA, VX-5HD. Page text: subtends correctly at the scope's highest magnification. Published callouts: 0.25 MOA all apertures, 0.25 MOA dot diameter, 2.0 MOA and 1.0 MOA mark lengths, 2.0 MOA and 1.0 MOA spacings, 0.1 MOA fine lines, 0.5 MOA heavy lines. Structure (read from the vector artwork, see verifiedNote): no centre dot - the fine cross is broken by a 0.25 MOA aperture at centre; one 1 MOA cross-mark 2 MOA ABOVE centre and nothing else above; windage marks every MOA from 2 to 15 each side (2.0 MOA long on even, 1.0 on odd), numerals 4 / 8 / 12 above the line both sides; vertical marks every MOA from 2 to 28 below centre (2.0 wide even, 1.0 odd), each split by its own 0.25 aperture with the vertical line broken there too; a dot tree of 0.25 MOA dots on a 2 MOA grid, rows every 2 MOA from 2 to 28, each row reaching 2 MOA further than its depth up to +/-16 at row 14 and staying +/-16 to row 28; numerals 4-28 on the vertical, alternating right (4, 12, 20, 28) and left (8, 16, 24), each taking the place of the +/-2 dot on its row. Heavy 0.5 posts left, right and bottom, each with a pointed tip; NO top post, the fine vertical runs to the field edge. Post tips (side 15.9, bottom 28.95) and the 0.47 MOA taper are measured, not published. The full-reticle view's numerals print '48' where the right-hand 8 belongs; both magnified views agree on 4 / 8 / 12 each side.
How this one was checked
Verified 8 Oct 2026 against the 2021 Leupold Reticles catalogue (leupold-2021.pdf) page 38, read from the page's VECTOR artwork with pymupdf (tools/build_leupold_gaps.py). Two views measured independently: the right-hand magnified view at 6.000 pt/MOA and the full-reticle view at 3.440 pt/MOA, each scale fitted by least squares to its own windage marks (right view 16 marks, worst position residual 0.017; full view 28 marks, worst position residual 0.015). Every published callout then lands on the geometry: 0.25 apertures (centre gap 0.254; the 27 breaks in the vertical at its marks 0.239-0.260), dots 0.248 diameter, mark lengths 2.00 / 1.00, fine line 0.088, heavy 0.503. All 175 dots of the full view sit within 0.03 MOA of the 2 MOA lattice and every dot in the magnified view matches a full-view dot. Checklist walked: row count (14) and each row's reach on BOTH sides; mark pitch and the absence of marks at +/-1 and of anything above centre except the +2 cross; numerals and the dot each replaces; centre aperture with no dot; post tips pointed on all three arms with no top post; extents of every axis; every callout letter mapped. Marks straddle their line (centred, not one-sided). Measured, not published: side post tips 15.90 (full view 15.88), bottom tip 28.95 (full view 28.93), taper 0.47. Display convention: posts and the upper vertical stop at the full view's field-of-view ring (45.6 MOA).
