Subtensions

Official 2021 Reticles PDF page 27. Same published stadia as SFP TMR page 43 (5.00 MIL to post, 0.40 / 0.30 MIL hash lengths, 0.12 MIL fine lines, 0.50 MIL increment) plus a center FireDot. FireDot diameter is drawn but not numerically labeled — not invented. SFP, true at highest available magnification. Heavy-post weight 0.40 MIL is labeled on the non-illum sibling page; the FireDot TMR page does not repeat the heavy-line callout. Illumination: official 2021 Reticles PDF — “Fiber-optic powered center red-dot”; 2026 catalog — “NOTE: All Firedot reticles are illuminated” and “daylight-visible red illuminated FireDot in the center”. Only the center FireDot glows. Diameter is drawn but not numbered, so no invented d on the center dot.

How this one was checked

Verified 11 Sep 2026 against 2021 Leupold Reticles PDF page 27, read from the page's vector strokes (pymupdf). Reticle ink (0.137,0.122,0.125); the gold callout leaders (0.808,0.689,0.391) were excluded so they could not be measured as geometry. Scale 6.52 px/MIL, cross-checked four ways: fine line 0.795px=0.122MIL [0.12], heavy post 2.63px=0.403MIL [0.40], post inner ends 4.99/5.02/5.03/5.03MIL [5.00], tick pitch 0.50MIL [0.50]. All five printed callouts are represented: 5.00MIL, 0.4MIL, 0.50MIL, 0.30MIL, 0.12MIL Fine Lines. CORRECTED: the same half-extent error as page 43 - all 36 hashes were stored as a half-extent equal to the published figure and so drawn at twice their length. Measured here: integer marks 0.408MIL [0.40], half marks 0.307MIL [0.30]. Now +/-0.20 and +/-0.15. Hash stroke 0.075MIL, measured (the 0.12MIL Fine Lines callout describes the crosshair, not the marks). ADDED: marks at 10 MIL left and right on the windage axis (measured -10.045 and +10.051), each 0.711MIL long, drawn across the heavy post. REMOVED: a malformed element at 5 MIL below centre drawn along the vertical line rather than across it. DIFFERS FROM PAGE 43, deliberately: the SFP TMR sheet carries a third 10-MIL mark BELOW centre on the elevation axis (measured -9.939). Page 27 does NOT - its elevation axis has exactly 18 marks, 0.5 to 4.5 either side, and nothing at 10. Both sheets were measured the same way and the difference is in the drawings, so each record follows its own sheet rather than being harmonised. CHECKLIST negatives: no fine sub-scale near centre (every gap 0.50MIL); no printed numerals on the reticle; marks sit centred on their axis (max offset 0.007MIL), not one-sided; the four post inner ends ramp from fine line to heavy post over about 0.15MIL and the record steps instead - cosmetic, not modelled. CENTRE FIREDOT: drawn in red (0.931,0.122,0.141) at the exact centre, diameter 0.93px=0.143MIL. Leupold publishes NO figure for it, so the record continues to claim none and the renderer's 0.1 default stands. Not changed to the measured value without a decision, since 'drawn but not numerically labeled' was a deliberate call. FIREDOT DIAMETER - question closed 12 Sep 2026, deliberately NOT modelled. The red dot is drawn to a different size on all three Mark 3HD pages: 0.142 MIL (p27 TMR), 0.809 (p28 BDC), 1.045 (p29 SPR). Three drawings of the same dot disagreeing by 7x cannot all be to scale, so none of them is a measurement of the dot. Every diameter Leupold actually PUBLISHES in this catalogue is far smaller - 0.05MIL and 0.03MIL on page 19, 0.3MOA (0.087MIL) on page 16 - and all three drawn dots exceed the largest of them. The dot is therefore drawn oversized so it reads at print size, an illustration convention. The record claims no diameter and the renderer's 0.1 MIL default stands, which is nearer Leupold's published 0.03-0.087 band than any of the three measurements. Do not 'correct' this to a measured value.
