Nightforce MIL-R F1 (SHV 4-14x50 F1)

Drawn to scale from Nightforce’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Nightforce MIL-R F1 (SHV 4-14x50 F1) — first focal plane, MRAD subtensions, 4–14×

Framed to about 12 MRAD — the part of the reticle you aim with. This reticle carries marks out to 30 MRAD; the rest sits beyond the edge of this drawing.

Drawn from Nightforce Optics, Inc.’s published specification.

In the first focal plane the subtensions hold true at every magnification, so a hold is a hold wherever the zoom ring sits.

Subtensions

Nightforce MIL-R reticle sheet (NFO_MILRsheet_20160114, 2016) page 1 (first focal plane version, 15 Mil-Radian), MRAD: A=10 horizontal scale, D=.5 post height, E=.5 / F=1.0 pitches, G=1.0 floating centre (the 1.0 marks at +/-1), I=.2 half-mil horizontal marks (hanging below) and gap from the 5 mark to the post tip, J=1.0, K(F1)=.8 whole-mil vertical marks, L(F1)=.4 whole-mil horizontal marks (below), M=2.0 bar at -15, O=2.0 inverted-T base, P=.2 and Q=.1 fine graduations (4.2-4.8 on the horizontal, -14.1 to -14.9 alternating on the vertical, and the T-scale), R=15 mil below centre. Per model (SHV 4-14x50 F1): B=0.04 line, C=0.15 post rail, H=0.44 numerals and N=0.038 T-scale line from Nightforce's current MIL-R F1 specification pages (the 2016 sheet gives H(F1)=.28 and N(F1)=.029 generically). The inverted-T ranging scale sits right of and below centre (stem at 3.5, base at -3.0, 0-2 mil up the stem in .1, +/-1 mil along the base in .1/.2). Posts at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock: hollow chevron tip at 5.2 / -15.2 (drawn as a solid taper to 6.04), rails, fine centre line, solid from 10.03 / 20.01. Centre-only illumination on the SHV (the lit cross is +/-0.5 mil on Nightforce's 'MIL-R F1 Center Illuminated' image).

How this one was checked

Verified 9 Oct 2026 against Nightforce NFO_MILRsheet_20160114.pdf page 1, read as VECTOR at 6.878 pt/mil about the line crossing (A=10 and the +5/-15 vertical reproduce to 0.1%). Every mark was transcribed from the drawing onto the 0.1 mil grid (worst deviation 0.049 mil) and checked letter by letter: I .2 and L .4 hanging below, K .8 and .4 centred, P .2 fine marks 4.2-4.8, Q .1 alternating fine marks -14.1 to -14.9, M 2.0 bar at -15, J/G 1.0 marks at +/-1, O 2.0 T base, D post height (rail outer edges), I post-tip gap. Numerals are vector outlines; positions measured. Line/rail/numeral/T weights are the model's published values (the drawing uses one weight). Cross-checked by overlay (tools/nf_wave2_lib.crosscheck). All letters A-R represented (H as the label size).
