In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.
Nightforce 4A-i Reticle Sheet (REV 1025), page 2 table, 3-18x50 column, all values MOA 'measured at maximum magnification' (18x): A=1.2 heavy bar thickness, B=28 opening between the left and right bar tips, C=0.15 fine line, D=0.3 illuminated centre dot, E=14 centre to the bottom bar tip. Three bars (3, 6 and 9 o'clock), none at 12; above centre the fine line runs to the field edge and is carried as a post-type element of weight C so it does not set the display frame. Bars and the upper fine line are drawn to 60 MOA, i.e. off the field at 18x. Second focal plane: values hold at 18x only.
Verified 9 Oct 2026 against Nightforce 4A-i Reticle Sheet (REV 1025, specs/nightforce/4A-i-Reticle-Sheet.pdf) page 2. The drawing is a raster marked 'Reticles not to scale' and one drawing serves four scopes, so NOTHING is scaled off it: every dimension is the 3-18x50 column of the lettered table. Structure read from the drawing at 300 dpi: bars at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock only, inner ends square, the fine vertical continues to the top of the field, illuminated (red) centre dot, and the bottom bar tip drawn at exactly half the B opening (170.5 px against 171.5 px), which is what the table says for every column (E = B/2). All five letters A-E are represented. Reference magnification 18x from the sheet's footnote 'All subtensions measured at maximum magnification'.
