Drawn to scale from Vortex’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.

Subtensions

Official per-scope sheet(s) publish three subtensions: 1.25 (centre to where the fine line meets the post), 0.16 (fine line) and 0.5 (post), MOA at the highest magnification. Plain duplex - no hashes, no holdover points. The fine line widens to the post along a straight shoulder 0.17 MOA long, drawn as a taper into the post. Posts are drawn to 40 MOA; on the scope they run to the edge of the field. Sheets: VTX_VHS-4304_V-PLEX_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Viper HS 4-16x44); VTX_VHS-4306_V-PLEX_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Viper HS 4-16x50); VTX_DBK-10021_V-PLEX_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Diamondback HP 4-16x42). Sheet notes: 'Subtensions measured in MOA and correspond to the highest magnification. Reticle image shown for representation only. Reticle image varies between riflescope models depending on magnification and reticle plane.'

How this one was checked

Verified 8 Oct 2026 against Vortex's per-scope sheet(s), specs/vortex/VTX_VHS-4304_V-PLEX_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Viper HS 4-16x44); VTX_VHS-4306_V-PLEX_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Viper HS 4-16x50); VTX_DBK-10021_V-PLEX_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Diamondback HP 4-16x42), page 1. Three sheets, identical numbers 1.25 / .16 / .5. Viper HS sheets (same artwork as the 2.5-10x44, whose numbers are exactly 1.5x these): post start 54.22 pt / 1.25 = 43.38, line 6.90 / .16 = 43.1, post 21.63 / .5 = 43.3 pt/MOA - consistent to 0.6%. Diamondback HP 4-16x42 (its own artwork): 62.66 / 1.25 = 50.13, 8.00 / .16 = 50.0, 25.02 / .5 = 50.04 - consistent to 0.3%. Shoulder 0.171 MOA run for 0.17 rise, 45 degrees, on both. Scale is taken from one published dimension and every other callout is then checked against it; all three land. The sheet says 'representation only', so the record carries the published numbers; the drawing supplies the structure (the shoulder). Bezier ON-curve vertices read directly from the PDF, and the arms profiled at 0.04 pt with text removed.
