In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.

Subtensions

Official per-scope sheet publishes five subtensions, MOA at the highest magnification: illuminated centre dot diameter 0.5, a clear gap of 2 across centre (line end to line end), fine line 0.25, the post starts 5 from centre, post 0.75. Nothing is drawn in the gap but the dot. The step to the post is square on this sheet. Posts drawn to 40 MOA; on the scope they run to the field edge. Sheet: VTX_CF2-31049_V-BRITE_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf. Sheet notes: 'Subtensions measured in MOA and correspond to the highest magnification. Reticle image shown for representation only. Reticle image varies between riflescope models depending on magnification and reticle plane.'

How this one was checked

Verified 8 Oct 2026 against specs/vortex/VTX_CF2-31049_V-BRITE_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf, page 1. Scale 26.5 pt/MOA. All five published figures land: dot 13.29 pt = 0.502 (published diameter .5); fine line 6.60 pt = 0.249 (.25); post 19.93 pt = 0.752 (.75); the 2 arrow spans line-end to line-end (171.07 -> 224.93 pt, line ends at +/-26.58 pt = +/-1.003); the 5 arrow runs from the post's inner end to centre (132.87 pt = 5.014). The step from line to post is SQUARE on this sheet (no shoulder), unlike the 3-9 and 6-18 sheets. Bezier ON-curve vertices and arm profiles (0.04 pt, text removed) read from the PDF; the red dot is its own filled path.

Subtensions are published by the manufacturer and reproduced here for reference. Confirm your own dope on a range before you rely on any of it. Harson.ai is not affiliated with Vortex.
