Vortex G4 BDC MOA

Drawn to scale from Vortex’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Vortex G4 BDC MOA — second focal plane, MOA subtensions, 3.0–15.0×

In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.

Subtensions

SFP; the sheet: 'subtensions are measured in MOA and correspond to the highest magnification' (15x on this scope; the manual: 'the listed BDC yardages will only be valid with the riflescope set at the highest magnification'). Published for this scope: centre dot 0.35; fine line 0.175, mid line 0.5, post 1.5; the lines start 2 from centre, step from fine to mid at 4 and to the post at 8; holdover hashes at 4.5 and 7.5 below centre; bottom post from 11. Drawn, not published (the sheet is exactly to scale): nothing above centre; the steps are straight shoulders (0.276 and 0.857 long on the sides, 1.138 on the bottom post); the vertical below centre stays fine (0.175) to the bottom post; the holdover hashes are 1 MOA long and 0.175 thick. The sheet draws no part in illumination red. Posts drawn to 40 MOA. The manual's Class A/B/C tables map the hashes to yardages - ballistic suggestions, not geometry. Other G4 BDC sheets publish different weights per scope, so this record is this scope only. Reticle image shown for representation only. Reticle image varies between scope models depending on magnification and reticle plane.

How this one was checked

Verified 9 Oct 2026 against specs/vortex/VTX_RZR-1589_G4-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf page 1 (re-downloaded from the source URL the same day, byte-identical). Scale 12.7555 pt/MOA fitted to the 2 dimension (centre to line start), centre (198.425, 212.599) = the centre dot; the 4 / 8 / 4.5 / 7.5 / 11 positions and every weight read as the outline's ON-curve vertices (asserted in the builder). Every published callout is checked in tools/build_vortex_wave2.py and lands. Checklist walked: rows and extents, hash spacing, numerals, centre element and gap, post tips, which side of the line each mark sits (all centred unless the notes say otherwise), every callout.
