Drawn to scale from Vortex’s own specification sheet, and checked
mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.
Vortex Dead-Hold BDC — second focal plane, MOA subtensions
Official per-scope sheet(s): VTX_SON-3901_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST (Sonora 3-9x50). Published, MOA at the highest magnification: windage hashes 2 MOA apart to 6, holdover hashes at 1.5 / 4.5 / 7.5 below centre, side and top posts start at 8, bottom post at 11, hash length 2, line .3, post .8. Drawn values, not published: the holdover hashes are as long as the windage hashes, every hash is as thick as the line, and each post meets the line along a straight shoulder 0.25 long. Posts drawn to 40 MOA. The manual's Class A/B/C yardages are ballistic suggestions, not geometry. Not the Dead-Hold 2A BDC. Reticle image shown for representation only.
How this one was checked
Verified 9 Oct 2026 against specs/vortex/VTX_SON-3901_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf page 1 (re-downloaded from the source URL the same day, byte-identical). Scale 12.557 pt/MOA fitted to the windage hash centres at 2 / 4 / 6 (the published 2 MOA spacing), centre (198.0, 221.102); the figures read as the outline's ON-curve vertices: hash 2.000, line 0.299, post 0.801, side and top posts 8.000, bottom post 11.000, holdovers 1.50 / 4.50 / 7.50, shoulder 0.250. Every published callout is checked in tools/build_vortex_wave2.py and lands. Checklist walked: rows and extents, hash spacing, numerals, centre element and gap, post tips, which side of the line each mark sits (all centred unless the notes say otherwise), every callout.
Use it on your own rifle
Harson Ballistics draws this reticle at your magnification with your holdover marked on it,
from your rifle, load and conditions. Works with no signal and no account.
Subtensions are published by the manufacturer and reproduced here for reference.
