Vortex Dead-Hold BDC — second focal plane, MOA subtensions
Official per-scope sheet(s): VTX_CF2-31007_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (3-9x40); VTX_CF2-31011_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (3-9x50); VTX_CF2-31019_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (4-12x40); VTX_CF2-31015_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (4-12x44). Published, MOA at the highest magnification: windage hashes 2 MOA apart to 6, holdover hashes at 1.5 / 4.5 / 7.5 below centre, side and top posts start at 8, bottom post at 11, hash length 1.1, line 0.3, post 0.8. Drawn values, not published: the holdover hashes are the same length as the windage hashes, every hash is as thick as the line, and each post meets the line along a 45-degree shoulder 0.25 long. Posts drawn to 40 MOA. This per-scope sheet supersedes the generic Dead-Hold manual (VTX_M-00240-1) for these scopes: it publishes a hash length, line and post per scope that the manual does not. Class A/B/C yardage mappings in the manual are ballistic suggestions, not geometry. Not the Dead-Hold 2A BDC. 9 Oct 2026: these per-scope sheets print the same figures (1.1 / .3 / .8, 8, 11, 1.5 / 4.5 / 7.5) and draw the same outline to 0.01 MOA, so their scopes are listed here too: VTX_IRP-412_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Iron Peak 4-12x44, widen id 10bi3yezh9); VTX_TRI-3901_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Triumph HD 3-9x40, widen id onefudycgp); VTX_VNQ-30901_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_ST.pdf (Vanquish 3-9x40, widen id rapkuxdnny); VTX_VNQ-40201_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Vanquish 4-12x40, widen id taglq3bryg); VTX_VNQ-40201_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (Intrepid 4-12x40, widen id taglq3bryg). Vanquish and Intrepid are dealer names for the same scopes (the Intrepid 4-12x40 page links the Vanquish 4-12x40 sheet).
How this one was checked
Verified 8 Oct 2026 against specs/vortex/VTX_CF2-31007_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (3-9x40); VTX_CF2-31011_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (3-9x50); VTX_CF2-31019_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (4-12x40); VTX_CF2-31015_DEAD-HOLD-BDC_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf (4-12x44), page 1. Text removed, dark ink rasterised at 0.04 pt and profiled along all four arms from the ring centre. Scale 15.54 pt/MOA, fitted to the windage hash CENTRES at 2 / 4 / 6 (the published 2 MOA spacing). Every other callout then lands: hash 1.099, line 0.299, post 0.801, side post 8.005, bottom post 11.015 (all four sheets); holdover hashes centred at 1.50 / 4.50 / 7.50, each within 0.01. All marks centred on the line (no one-sided marks; offsets under 0.005). Post shoulders read from the ON-curve vertices: 45 degrees, 0.25 MOA run, on all four posts. The sheet's ring is 11.6 MOA in radius and clips the posts - it is a frame, not the field.
Use it on your own rifle
