In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.

Subtensions

SFP. Sheet: 'Most commonly, the MOA subtensions are valid at the highest magnification. Please check the Product Manual to confirm.' Reference magnification recorded as the host scope's maximum (12x) on that basis; the reticle sheet itself does not name a magnification per scope. Printed callouts: holdover hashes 1.5 / 4.5 / 7.5, top of bottom post 11, windage hashes 2 MOA apart, side posts start at 8. Measured off the chart (drawn to scale - the callouts land within 0.02 MOA): hashes are 0.6 total (0.3 each side of the line), top post also starts at 8, posts are 0.47 thick and end in a short chamfered point about 0.2 long (drawn as a taper into the post), fine line 0.15. Post thickness and line weight are drawn values, not published numbers. Class A/B/C yardage mappings are ballistic suggestions, not geometry. Do not confuse with Dead-Hold 2A BDC.

How this one was checked

Compared against scratchpad/specs/vortex/vortex-dead-hold-bdc-moa-12x.pdf (VTX M-00240-1; the four Dead-Hold files on disk are byte-identical), PDF page 2 = printed pp 2-3 'Subtension Chart', rendered at 600 dpi. Scale calibrated on the 2 MOA windage hash pitch (67.2 px/MOA) and cross-checked on the 1.5/4.5/7.5 holdover hashes and the 8 MOA post tip, all within 0.02 MOA. Hash count and lengths, post tips (position and chamfer), post thickness and line weight measured. Geometry verified; the reference magnification is the sheet's general 'highest magnification' statement, not a per-scope figure.
