Vortex AR-BDC4 MOA

Drawn to scale from Vortex’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

In the first focal plane the subtensions hold true at every magnification, so a hold is a hold wherever the zoom ring sits.

Subtensions

Fixed-power prism ('Subtensions measured in MOA'); focal plane is moot, recorded FFP so nothing rescales. The 3x and 5x sheets draw and dimension the same reticle. Published: illuminated 1 MOA dot inside an illuminated broken ring 18.85 across its centreline, 1.5 thick; BDC bars 2.8 / 2.1 / 1.7 / 1.4 wide at 2 / 5.2 / 9.4 / 14.6 below the dot (the sheet does not name the distances); four .75 short bars between them; line and bars .5; wind dots .75. Drawn, not published (the sheet is to scale): short bars at 3.5 / 7.2 / 11.8 / 17.6; the line runs from the 2 bar to the 17.6 bar - nothing between the dot and the first bar, no horizontal line; wind dots at 1.8 (5.2 row), 2.6 (9.4 row), 3.5 (14.6 row) each side; ring arcs 50-130, -36.8 to 20 and 160 to 216.8 degrees.

How this one was checked

Verified 8 Oct 2026 against specs/vortex/VTX_SPR-300_SPR-500_AR-BDC4_MOA_RD_I_RI_ST.pdf page 1 (VTX_SPR-500, the 5x sheet, has identical ink outlines). Scale 6.2995 pt/MOA fitted to the three wind-dot rows, centre (198.0, 221.1) = the red dot; all thirteen published callouts then land (listed in tools/build_vortex_spitfire.py). Bars converted exactly from the single outline's vertices; ring from its vertex radii and cut angles; dots from their bezier extents.

Subtensions are published by the manufacturer and reproduced here for reference. Confirm your own dope on a range before you rely on any of it. Harson.ai is not affiliated with Vortex.
