In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.

Drawn to scale from Vortex’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

SFP; sheet: subtensions 'correspond to the highest magnification' (manual: 'on most models - check your riflescope's product manual'). Published: illuminated 1 MOA centre dot inside a broken illuminated ring 1.275 thick; holdover hashes 2.4 / 5.6 / 9.5 / 14.6 below centre, 2.8 / 2.1 / 1.7 / 1.4 wide (300 / 400 / 500 / 600 yds for the manual's .223 60 gr load zeroed 50/200); the vertical line ends at 17.1; the bottom wedge's tip is 15.4 below that; line and hashes .25; small hashes .75. There is NO line between the dot and the first hash, and no horizontal line at all - the sides carry only wedge posts. Drawn, not published (the sheet is exactly to scale): small hashes at 3.9 / 7.4 / 11.8, wind dots 0.5 across (5 / 10 / 15 mph holds per the manual) at row 2.4: 3.3, 5.0; row 5.6: 2.4, 4.8, 7.1; row 9.5: 3.2, 6.4, 9.6; row 14.6: 4.1, 8.1, 12.3; the ranging ladder above centre (base bar at 24, bars at 30.3 / 31.6 / 33.5 / 36.7 = an 18 x 40 inch silhouette at 600 / 500 / 400 / 300 yds); wedge tips at 32.5, 1.2 wide at the sheet's 40 MOA frame (they run on to the field edge on the scope). Ring gaps: side arcs -16.7 to +20 degrees, top arc 50 to 130; the sheet cuts the side arcs' lower ends horizontally, the app draws them radial (0.1 MOA at the corners). The manual prints 16.625 where this sheet prints 16 for the ring; both draw the same ring (outer diameter 18.0) and the sheet's 16 is the span between the side arcs' lower ends, which the drawing matches exactly - recorded as drawn.
Verified 8 Oct 2026 against specs/vortex/VTX_SE-1624-2_AR-BDC3_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf page 1 (identical to VTX_SE-1824-2 and VTX_VEN-1601: every reticle path has the same bounds and point count). Scale exactly 4.5 pt/MOA, fitted to the 17.1 dimension arrow; all fifteen published callouts then land to 0.01 (2.4 / 5.6 / 9.5 / 14.6 / 17.1 / 15.4 positions, dot 1, line .25, hash widths 2.8 / 2.1 / 1.7 / 1.4 / .75, ring 1.275 and the 16 span). ON-curve vertices of the 60-point line-and-hash outline, the ring arcs and the wedges read directly from the PDF. Checklist: rows and their widths (1-2); numerals 4 / 5 / 6 / 10 and the ranging 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 placed from their glyph boxes (3); dot floating - no line reaches it (4); wedge tips at 32.5 point inward on all three (5); extents to the sheet's frame (6); every callout walked (7); all hashes centred on the line, no one-sided marks (8). Drawn-only values and the manual's 16.625 are listed in notes.
