In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.

Drawn to scale from Vortex’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

The earlier Strike Eagle 1-8x24 reticle (SKU SE-1824-1), not the AR-BDC3 of the current model. SFP; the sheet: 'subtensions measured in MOA and correspond to the highest magnification' (8x). Published: illuminated 1 MOA centre dot inside a broken illuminated ring 1.275 thick, 15.35 across the inside; illuminated sub-crosshairs at 2.4 / 5.6 / 9.5 / 14.6 below centre, 4 / 10.4 / 14.1 / 18.25 wide, with ticks 5.2 / 7 / 9.1 apart on the lower three; vertical line .6; side posts 1 thick from 16.9, 13 long; bottom post 1.5 thick from 18, 12 long. Drawn, not published (the sheet is exactly to scale): the sub-crosshairs are .4 thick and their ticks .4 x 1 (on the first bar the ticks are its ends); the vertical line runs only from the 2.4 bar to the 14.6 bar - nothing joins it to the dot; ring segments 155-220 and -40 to 25 degrees at the sides, 45-135 on top (centreline diameter 16.625); the posts come to a point over 1 MOA (sides) and 2 MOA (bottom) and END 30 MOA from centre - they do not run to the field edge. The manual: the small ticks are ~5 mph and the bar ends ~10 mph 5.56 wind holds, and the bars 300-600 yds for 5.56 zeroed 50/200 - ballistic suggestions, not geometry. Verified 9 Oct 2026 against specs/vortex/VTX_SE-1824-1_AR-BDC2_MOA_RS_I_RI_ST.pdf page 1 (re-downloaded from the source URL the same day, byte-identical). Scale 4.464 pt/MOA fitted to the 1 MOA centre dot, centre (198.0, 221.103) = the dot; every bar, tick, post and ring edge read as the outline's ON-curve vertices (asserted in the builder) Every published callout is checked in tools/build_vortex_wave2.py and lands (16.9 drawn 16.925 and 13 drawn 13.075, both inside the label's rounding). Checklist walked: rows and extents, hash spacing, numerals, centre element and gap, post tips, which side of the line each mark sits (all centred unless the notes say otherwise), every callout.
Harson Ballistics draws this reticle at your magnification with your holdover marked on it, from your rifle, load and conditions. Works with no signal and no account.
