Hawke LR Dot (8x)

Drawn to scale from Hawke’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Hawke LR Dot (8x) — second focal plane, MOA subtensions, 2.5–16×

Framed to about 40 MOA — the part of the reticle you aim with. This reticle carries marks out to 89.3 MOA; the rest sits beyond the edge of this drawing.

Drawn from Hawke Sport Optics’s published specification.

Subtensions

Hawke LR Dot (8x). SFP, subtensions true at 8x - Hawke: 'the LR Dot reticle markings were designed at 8x magnification'. PUBLISHED (info drawing): 1.25 MOA illuminated centre dot, crosshair stopping 2.3 MOA from centre all round (a square gap), hash marks at 5.6 and 9.63 MOA below centre, and heavy posts left, right and below from 14.32 MOA from centre (15 in at 100 yd). There is NO top post: the thin line runs on to the field edge. MEASURED off Hawke's CAD-exact drawing (not published, but every published figure lands on the drawing to 0.003 MOA): thin line 0.317 MOA, posts 1.6 MOA, hash marks 2.75 MOA long. Hawke frames the lower marks as 200-500 m aim points for a .308-class load; those are trajectory-dependent and are not drawn as ranges here.

How this one was checked

Verified 8 Oct 2026 against Hawke's own vector drawing LR-Dot-8x.svg and its callout sheet LR-Dot-8x-info.svg, read with tools/svg_shapes.py (not a picture). centre (306.390,306.390), scale 3.4245 SVG units per MOA fitted to the published 14.32 MOA post; the other four callouts then land at hash 5.598 and 9.628 (published 5.6 and 9.63), gap 2.299 (2.3), dot 1.250 (1.25). All five published figures land within 0.003 MOA of the drawing, which is what makes its unpublished widths usable. Walked: outline (three posts, no top post), all marks (two hashes below centre only - none on the windage or above), no numerals, floating centre dot in a square 2.3 MOA gap, square post ends on all three posts, extents to the drawn field edge, every callout letter-for-letter. The callout sheet itself is a SCHEMATIC - its hashes sit at 5.9 and 10.1 MOA against its own labels of 5.6 and 9.63 - so it was used for the numbers only, never measured.
