Athlon APLR2 FFP IR MOA

Drawn to scale from Athlon’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Athlon APLR2 FFP IR MOA — first focal plane, MOA subtensions, 6–34×

Framed to about 40 MOA — the part of the reticle you aim with. This reticle carries marks out to 80 MOA; the rest sits beyond the edge of this drawing.

Drawn from Athlon Optics’s published specification.

In the first focal plane the subtensions hold true at every magnification, so a hold is a hold wherever the zoom ring sits.

Official table: A1=0.14, A2=2, B1=1, B2=0.5, B3=1.5, B4=2, C1=1, C2=5, C3=2, D1=0.2, D2=0.3. Text: 1 MOA hashes; 5 MOA drop lines to 50 MOA; 2 MOA center span; illuminated cross to 40 MOA. Drop-line dots 1 MOA / bigger at 5 MOA — individual coords not tabulated.

How this one was checked

Verified 16 Sep 2026 against page 3 of Athlon's own APLR2 FFP IR MOA reticle manual (Argos BTR GEN2), read as vector rectangles with tools/pdf_vectors.py and rebuilt by tools/build_athlon_aplr2.py. Scale 2.1900 pt/MOA. Every figure Athlon publishes in prose lands on it: marks every 1 MOA from 2 to 40 ('1 moa markings increment'), the illuminated cross reaching 40.7 MOA ('extends to 40 moa on both vertical and horizontal direction'), the black posts starting at exactly 42.00, and the innermost mark at 2 MOA giving the published '2 moa span center cross'. ARCHITECTURE: unlike the MIL Athlons there is no dot grid - it is a dropline tree, 224 dots in eight rows every 5 MOA from -5 to -40, columns every 1 MOA from 2 outward, widening 5 / 10 / 10 / 15 / 15 / 20 / 20 / 25. The multiples of 5 are drawn LARGER, 0.3 against 0.2, which is published D2 against D1 and is exactly Athlon's 'droplines ... with 5 moa between each drop line and 1 moa hash marks in between'. Measured row counts 8/18/18/28/28/38/38/48 and the rebuild reproduces them. MARK LENGTHS: 1 MOA marks 1.0 (B1), the multiples of 5 are 1.5 (B3) and the multiples of 10 are 2.0 (B4). ⚠️ Those are FULL lengths: on this sheet a mark straddles the axis and decomposes into an above half, a below half and the axis run between, so measuring one half halves every figure - the +10 MOA mark reads y +0.02..+0.95, -1.05..-0.12 and -0.12..+0.02. APMR and APRS1 do not split this way. A1 0.14 is the line weight, C1 1 and C2 5 the two pitches, C3 2 the centre gap. B2 0.5 is the half-length of a 1 MOA mark either side of the axis, which is how the sheet's own callout measures it.
