Schmidt & Bender P4FL

Drawn to scale from Schmidt & Bender’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Schmidt & Bender P4FL — first focal plane, MRAD subtensions

Framed to about 12 MRAD — the part of the reticle you aim with. This reticle carries marks out to 27.35 MRAD; the rest sits beyond the edge of this drawing.

Drawn from Schmidt & Bender GmbH & Co. KG’s published specification.

In the first focal plane the subtensions hold true at every magnification, so a hold is a hold wherever the zoom ring sits.

Subtensions

First focal plane, mrad, from S&B's dimensioned reticle data sheet for this scope (page 2 drawing + lettered coverage table, page 3 views of the field at lowest and highest magnification). Illuminated centre cross, then clear glass to the 1 mrad mark. Windage and upper stadia: 0.4 mrad marks every mrad, 0.2 mrad marks at the half, and from 4.2 to 4.8 a 0.2 mrad fine scale of one-sided 0.1 mrad marks above the horizontal line and right of the vertical. Heavy 0.4 mrad posts with tips 10 mrad apart. Lower stadia marked every 0.5 mrad. Ranging: a 16 mrad bar and four 3 mrad bars above it bracketing a 50 cm target at 500/400/300/200 m. Sheet letters (cm/100 m / 10 = mrad): A 10 post opening, B 1 and D 0.5 mark spacing, C 0.8 wide mark, E 0.4 full mark, F 0.2 half mark and fine-scale spacing, G 0.1 fine mark, H 1.713 red cross, K 0.035 line, L 16 long bar at -10, M 3 short bars, N/P/R/S ranging. Post thickness 0.4 and bar thickness 0.1 are not lettered; measured from the vector drawing. Posts and the lower stadia run to the edge of the field in the lowest-magnification view (27.35 mrad).

How this one was checked

Verified 8 Oct 2026 against Schmidt-Bender-Datasheet-P4FL-FFP-5-25x56-PMII.pdf (P4FL.zip), page 2 and page 3. Vector drawing; measured on FILL geometry only (the 0.51 pt outline stroke fattens every mark by 0.03 mrad and is dropped; dimension arrows are told apart by their 0.25 pt stroke). Scale calibrated on A: post tips 159.69 pt apart = 10 mrad -> 15.968 pt/mrad, centre (307.64, 385.54). At that scale every lettered value lands: B 1.000, C 0.80, D 0.50, E 0.40, F 0.20, G 0.10, H 1.72, K 0.034, L 16.00, M 3.00, and the ranging bars sit 0.999/1.251/1.668/2.500 above the long bar against N/P/R/S 1.0/1.25/1.667/2.5. Checked sides: the 0.2 fine scale is one-sided, above the horizontal and right of the vertical; the half marks are centred. No printed numerals on this reticle. Post tips square. The record was then rasterised as the app draws it and XOR-compared with the sheet at 600 dpi (133 px/mrad): the only disagreements are the posts beyond page 2's frame (extents come from page 3) and three fine-scale marks the drawing places at 4.42/4.62/4.82 against the published 0.2 graduation (4.4/4.6/4.8 recorded; the 5-45x56 sheet draws them at 4.4/4.6/4.8). Page 3 lowest-magnification view (5.554 pt/mrad, from L) compared the same way at 1200 dpi: whole record agrees, including the 0.8 mrad marks at -15/-20/-25 and the field edge at 27.35 mrad.
