Schmidt & Bender L3

Drawn to scale from Schmidt & Bender’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Schmidt & Bender L3 — first focal plane, MRAD subtensions

Framed to about 12 MRAD — the part of the reticle you aim with. This reticle carries marks out to 55.6 MRAD; the rest sits beyond the edge of this drawing.

Drawn from Schmidt & Bender GmbH & Co. KG’s published specification.

In the first focal plane the subtensions hold true at every magnification, so a hold is a hold wherever the zoom ring sits.

Subtensions

First focal plane, mrad: heavy posts left, right and below, thin cross, open top, and an illuminated dot at the centre. From S&B's dimensioned reticle data sheet for this scope. A 6.97 between the post tips, B 0.664 post, C 0.066 line, D 0.251 dot. The bottom post tip (3.485, = A/2) is not lettered; measured from the drawing. The field at lowest magnification is 55.6 mrad; the thin line is drawn to 50 mrad and the posts to 60 here (app plausibility limits).

How this one was checked

Verified 8 Oct 2026 against Schmidt-Bender-Datasheet-L3-FFP-3-12x50-Klassik.pdf, pages 2 and 3. Vector drawing, measured on fill geometry only. Page 2 centre from the crossing of the thin lines, scale from A (left/right post tips) = 36.913 pt/mrad; page 3 lowest-magnification view the same way, 2.296 pt/mrad. Measured: post 0.663, line 0.064, dot 0.25, bottom tip 3.48. The record was rasterised as the app draws it and XOR-compared with page 2 at 600 dpi: inside the page-2 frame nothing disagrees beyond 2 px except the sheet's own dimension arrowheads; the post and line extents beyond that frame were checked against the field edge on page 3 (re-checked 8 Oct 2026 in review). No marks or numerals on this reticle; post tips square.
