Schmidt & Bender FD7

Drawn to scale from Schmidt & Bender’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Schmidt & Bender FD7 — second focal plane, MRAD subtensions

Framed to about 12 MRAD — the part of the reticle you aim with. This reticle carries marks out to 44.8 MRAD; the rest sits beyond the edge of this drawing.

Drawn from Schmidt & Bender GmbH & Co. KG’s published specification.

In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.

Subtensions

Second focal plane, mrad, values at the scope's top magnification (the sheet's column for it): heavy posts left, right and below, thin cross, open top, illuminated centre dot. From S&B's dimensioned reticle data sheet for this scope. At 5x: A 13.7 between the post tips, B 0.49 post, C 0.07 line, D 0.4 dot (1x: 68.6 / 2.45 / 0.37 / 1.96; 3x: 22.9 / 0.82 / 0.12 / 0.65). The bottom post tip (6.85, = A/2) is not lettered; measured from the drawing. Posts and the upper line run to the edge of the field in the lowest-magnification view (44.8 mrad).

How this one was checked

Verified 8 Oct 2026 against Schmidt-Bender-Datasheet-FD7-SFP-1,1-5x24 Stratos.pdf, pages 2 and 3. Vector drawing, measured on fill geometry only. Page 2 centre from the crossing of the thin lines, scale from A (left/right post tips) = 14.301 pt/mrad; page 3 lowest-magnification view the same way, 5.010 pt/mrad. Drawn at 5x: post 0.487, line 0.073, dot 0.37 on page 2 (D 0.4); page 3 draws the dot larger. Page 3 is one view 'at all magnification'; field edge 44.8 at 5x. The record was rasterised as the app draws it and XOR-compared with page 2 at 600 dpi: inside the page-2 frame nothing disagrees beyond 2 px except the sheet's own dimension arrowheads; the post and line extents beyond that frame were checked against the field edge on page 3 (re-checked 8 Oct 2026 in review). No marks or numerals on this reticle; post tips square.
