Schmidt & Bender A7

Drawn to scale from Schmidt & Bender’s own specification sheet, and checked mark by mark by a person. This is the same geometry Harson Ballistics draws your holdover on.

Schmidt & Bender A7 — second focal plane, MRAD subtensions

Framed to about 12 MRAD — the part of the reticle you aim with. This reticle carries marks out to 17.6 MRAD; the rest sits beyond the edge of this drawing.

Drawn from Schmidt & Bender GmbH & Co. KG’s published specification.

In the second focal plane the subtensions are only true at one magnification — check your manual for which, and dial there before you hold.

Subtensions

Second focal plane, mrad, values at 10x (the sheet's 10x column); heavy posts left, right and below, thin cross. From S&B's dimensioned reticle data sheet for this scope. At 10x: A 9.8 between the post tips, B 0.46 post, C 0.05 line (2.5x column: 39.2 / 1.8 / 0.18; 7x: 14 / 0.65 / 0.07). The bottom post tip (4.9, = A/2) is not lettered; measured from the drawing, which is drawn at 10x. Posts and the upper line run to the edge of the field in the lowest-magnification view (17.6 mrad).

How this one was checked

Verified 8 Oct 2026 against Schmidt-Bender-Datasheet-A7-SFP-2_5-10x40-Summit.pdf, pages 2 and 3. Vector drawing, measured on fill geometry only. Page 2 centre from the crossing of the thin lines, scale from A (left/right post tips) = 12.400 pt/mrad; page 3 lowest-magnification view the same way, 12.400 pt/mrad. The drawing is at 10x: post 0.457 and line 0.047 against the 10x column's 0.46 / 0.05. Page 3 shows one view 'at all magnification' (second focal plane), field edge 17.6 mrad at 10x. The record was rasterised as the app draws it and XOR-compared with page 2 at 600 dpi: inside the page-2 frame nothing disagrees beyond 2 px except the sheet's own dimension arrowheads; the post and line extents beyond that frame were checked against the field edge on page 3 (re-checked 8 Oct 2026 in review). No marks or numerals on this reticle; post tips square.
